Training Should Be Fun!

I had a new private client today. She has previously hired a non-force free trainer to help with her 8 month old German Shepherd Dog. After a couple of sessions the dog started to try to hide from the trainer. The training was not enjoyable to the dog. The dog was failing at recalls, probably due to being leery of the trainer. The trainer told the owner that he wanted to use a shock collar at the next session to fix the recall. Thankfully the owner “listened” to her dog (and her own intuition) and called me. I was able to get wonderful work out of the dog on the very first session including some successful recall work. If it doesn’t feel right or sound right with the trainer please look for someone else to help you and your dog.
